Kompot is a Slavic beverage that's similar to a homemade fruit punch. This is a great way to use any leftover berries or fruit and turn it into a delicious drink the entire family will crave.
Bring 5 quart of water to a boil in a large pot. Add sugar and apples and cook for about 3-4 minutes after it comes to a boil.
Lastly add 1 lb of berries, cover with a lid and turn off heat. Let sit for at least an hour before serving over ice or bringing it to room temperature and refrigerating it.
Note: If the berries don’t have enough acidity in them, I add the juice of 1/2 lemon, but usually I don’t need to do this. You will need to taste the kompot after all the ingredients are added and decide if you need to add a little acidity.
